A Poem/Prayer for the Exile

Inhale, exile

You will find home

Exhale, exile

Just breathe out this poem

The soul is a nomad

Its roots remain shallow

Deep enough only to survive

For in the next world shall it thrive

The soul is a voyager

Unrestrained as the wind

Content only with horizons

For in the next world shall it arrive

The soul is a wanderer

To some it might seem lost

But its guide is not for their eyes

For its guide is One who hides

The soul is a pilgrim

To journey is its life

In search of somewhere sacred

In search of the Divine

Soldier on, sojourner

You were made to endure, to bear

Soldier on, sojourner

Your shield is this prayer

Inspired by the song ‘In Exile’ by Thrice and writings from the Baha’i Faith.
