A Poem for Being Triggered

It is nothing personal:

If you have felt triggered by me.

If you have felt anger towards me.

If you have felt the need to mute, block or remove me.

It is nothing personal:

If you felt I had lost my way.

If you felt I have lead you astray.

If you felt there were things I shouldn’t say.

It is nothing personal.

Because I have felt all these things too,

And I bet he has, and her, and them too,

And we all likely will in the future, too.

So if these feelings are all of ours,

If we seek to make them, one day, none of ours:

How can they be, alone, only ours?

So it can’t be anything personal.

It is just who we are,

Or perhaps where we are, now:

And what we need to feel to get where we need to be.
